Kolonaki

Sophisticated Elegance

Kolonaki is one of Athens' most upscale and fashionable districts, located on the southern slopes of Lycabettus Hill,  characterised by its neoclassical architecture, leafy streets, and a cosmopolitan vibe. It is known for its chic boutiques, art galleries, and sophisticated cafés and this is the perfect neighborhood for those who enjoy a blend of luxury and culture.

If you choose to stay in Kolonaki you will most probably explore the city on foot, due to its close proximity to many of the attractions, bars and restaurants. However, Athens is not a flat city, with Kolonaki being a true testament to that, so make sure to have a comfortable pair of walking shoes.

Who Should Stay Here

Kolonaki is ideal for travellers who appreciate luxury and elegance, and who want to be in the heart of the city’s cultural scene.

Closest Metro Station

Depending on where you stay, the closest stations can be Evangelismos, Syntagma or Panepistimio. The first two are on Line 3 (the Blue Line), while the last is on Line 2 (the Red Line). The most strategically located accommodation, would probably be one near the station of Syntagma which allows you to be close to many attractions and also connects you with the metro directly to the international airport of Athens.

Syntagma

The Heart of Athens

Syntagma is the most central neighbourhood in Athens with Syntagma Square being the beating heart of Athens. The neighbourhood is known for its historic significance and political importance as it is dominated by the grand Greek Parliament building. Syntagma is surrounded by neoclassical architecture, is a lively mix of history and modernity, with bustling cafés, upscale shops, and offers convenient access to Athens’ most iconic attractions, such as the Acropolis, Plaka, and Monastiraki. The neighbourhood also provides easy connectivity to other parts of the city, making it an ideal base for both tourists and locals eager to explore the city of Athens.
