I have special dietary requirements. Can I visit Greece?

In Greece, meat and dairy is a significant part of the diet. Although having said that, the mediterranean cuisine includes many dishes that are vegeterian and sometimes even vegan! On the more popular and touristic destinations in Greece, special dietary requirements are sometimes included within the menu or even dedicated to a special type of eating. For example, MOD Santorini is first Vegan hotel of Santorini and Avocodo is a vegetarian/vegan only restaurant in the heart of Athens. On the less touristic islands, the concept of special dietary requirements may not be clear to the locals, so we would recommend explaining to them what exact products you do not eat so they can accomodate your needs, as the cuisine does include many dishes to fit all needs. Also, please dont be shocked if you say "I am vegetarian" and are asked if you eat fish! Just keep in mind that many people are still unaware of the concept of special dietary requirements, so take the time to help and educate them.
